A good LinkedIn photo is a clear, well-lit head-and-shoulders picture in which you look approachable and like yourself. It’s what people check before they answer a message or agree to a meeting.

I frame it so it still works when it’s cropped to a small circle, with your face filling enough of the frame and nothing behind you pulling focus. We take a few versions, some a little more formal and some more relaxed, so you can match the picture to your line of work.

For a dating profile, warmth matters more than polish. You want a picture where you’re smiling naturally and look like the person who turns up for the first drink, so I shoot looser crops and a few half-length frames as well as close ones.

People also book a personal headshot for a speaker bio, a club or membership page, a new job, or simply because they don’t have a single photo of themselves they like. Tell me where it’s going and I’ll shoot for that.

If you dislike being photographed, you’re in good company. I talk you through small changes as we go: a turn of the shoulder, the chin forward a touch, a breath out before the shot. You see the screen, so you can watch it start to work.

Wear what you’d wear in the place the photo will be seen, and bring a second top in a different colour. Solid colours photograph better than fine checks or narrow stripes, which can shimmer on a screen. Glasses are fine if you usually wear them.

Sessions are short and run at Studio A in Kentish Town. Your unretouched images arrive by WeTransfer the same day. Pick your favourites and I’ll retouch them within three working days, keeping the skin texture so you still look like you.
