More about

Actor Headshots

Actor headshots for Spotlight and casting profiles

My actor headshots meet Spotlight’s photo requirements, so the files are ready for your profile and for your agent the day you get them. I light for your face, keep the camera at eye level and frame tightly enough that your expression still reads on a small thumbnail.

A casting director wants to meet the person in the photo. So the picture has to look like you on a good day, not like someone else.

How many looks to bring to an actor headshot shoot

Bring three or four tops, and in an hour we can usually get through two or three changes. Plain colours in different tones work best: one dark, one light, one with a bit of colour. Leave logos, busy patterns and fine stripes at home.

Each look gives your agent a different casting type to put forward. Something open and warm for commercials and comedy, something stiller and more serious for drama. Tell me the parts you go up for and we’ll shoot towards them.

The background changes between looks in a few seconds on the motorised backdrop system, so a light grey, a white and a darker tone can all come out of one session.

Preparing for your headshot session

Come as you look on a good day, not as a different person. Wear your hair the way you wear it to auditions. If you’re about to cut or colour it, do that first, or the new headshots will be out of date straight away.

Natural make-up reads best on camera, and there are two lit make-up mirrors at the studio for last touches. Sleep well the night before, bring water, and put your own music on the speakers if it helps you settle.

You see the frames on screen as we go, so we can change what isn’t working. Every unretouched image comes to you by WeTransfer the same day, so you and your agent can choose together. The retouched picks follow within three working days.
